Don’t miss your life – Robin Rolder Exhibition: VIDEO

It was awesome. I forget the exact time but I would go to ‘The Friendly Tap.’ I think it was Wednesday nights and we would turn on the TV and our cable show ‘Street of Open Dreams’ would come on. It was an idea Robin and I came up with to showcase the local scene and the talent that was coming in and out and around the Friendly Tap.

A message in a bottle is boring. Here is a MEMO to the Universe.

The current scene that seems to be rocking Roosevelt Road today?

Robin and I started it!!! lol…

Booze Day Tuesdays… Open Mikes… Moca Magana…

It was ‘Cheers’, with no fear, a kick ass Soundtrack and a cable TV show to match.

Then My mother passed away and I went mental and moved to France but that’s another story…

I was always aware I was surrounded by World Class Talent.

Take the Moist Guitars, Robert “Sprinkles on Drums” and Ray ‘Mondo’ Smith, Thumper on Bass and Flammable Freaking Pam WTF!!! All of them together or separately could share the stage this minute with today’s elite musical acts and rock the roof off.

And the world Robin turned me on to was it’s own type of mind warp.

So much talent.. Such little time.
Some guys in that scene were gigging in the local area and making a living.

One confided in my that he left the world of finance so he could do what he loved making 40k a year in cash.

But that was the exception. I always fascinated how with all this talent we were all still broke. Developing a revenue stream from your creative gifts seemed almost impossible.

But that is not necessary a bad thing. If you get success too early it destroys you as an artist.

Lady GaGa’s ‘Art Flop’ is a perfect example.

The good thing is that with time an ability; an accuracy, a maturity develops where you can begin to gun sling.

You throw punches like always but they land bigger, harder and better.

I could feel this as I was developing my Tonal Painting skills and I can see this in Robins work.

I was so delighted when Robin sent me a Dropbox link of all her pictures. I immediately downloaded them and put them in a ‘Slideshow’ tool and worked out a rough draft.

Robin gave me two folders. This video from the first folder ordered as I downloaded them to my computer.

In honor of our former Television past, I wanted an opening that was like a ‘Charlie Rose’ kind of think.

Something that would feel like a happening…

The music track is done with a French singer who I was hoping to do some gigs with but things didn’t work out. This is one of the first songs I recorded after the feeling in my fingers come back.

There is alot of joy attached to this track for me. It always gives me a good feeling to remember waking up one morning and thinking like ‘YES!!! 100 PERCENT!!! FEELING’S BACK IN MY HAND 100 PERCENT!!!’ and literally jumping for the guitar.

I like it also because it has a Neo-Medusa-Avalon-clubbing-in-my-20s feel to it.

The next video will have less movement and be more of an artistic project. This first one was meant to feel more like an exposition trailer or promo. This next one will try to be more like a work of art.

I have asked one of my closest ever friends Ray Fligel from back in the day to help me with the soundtrack for this. We actually learned guitar together at 7-8-9 years old!lol. We are trying to share a folder in the cloud that we ‘Save to’ while we compose in home studios 2000 miles apart. If we can make this happen it’s going to be awesome!…

No Cure? Whatever…

(WARNING: GRAPHIC CONTENT – May contain selfies of a half-naked old man. Do not eat or drink while watching. These images can not be un-seen. By viewing you accept these Terms and Conditions.)

fear-617132_640In 1992 I noticed a grinding, like there was sand at the base of my neck.

By 2002 it was a constant, nagging, debilitating pain.

I saw a chiropractor.

‘So, what’s the prognosis doc.’

‘Well, here’s your X-rays. See this area right here. That’s your C4 and C5 vertebrae. They are at a late stage 3, early stage 4 level of deterioration. At stage 5 they begin to fuse.”

“Fuse?… What could possibly cause something like that.”

“It’s all the sitting we do watching computer and TV screens. Do you have a job seated at a computer?”

“Not really, but I do spend alot of time on a laptop.”

“See what I mean. As we sit there and bend the neck it compresses the vertebrae. Over time the bone and cartilage wear away.”

“What I can do to cure this condition.”

“Cure? Your condition can’t be cured. But we can slow or stop further damage by regular adjustments and focusing on a less acidic, more alkaline diet.”

My Chiropractor was a good man, very patient and conscientious. I drove a long way to see him and his adjustments did give me some relief.

Although by 2013, the fingers of my left hand began to go numb.

But hey, by then I was living in France. Aren’t they supposed to be the Healthcare capital of the World?

Animals On The Pharma

carnet-de-santeIf you ever want to see a grown adult swoon like a pre-teen at a Justin Bieber concert, just ask the French about their government sponsored healthcare system.

I thought all the swooning meant I could show up and say,

“OK gentleman, gotta few problems here. I’d like to see a Chiropractor on Monday, a Nutritionist on Tuesday get some Acupuncture on Wednesday, see a General Practitioner on Thursday, then let me see what’s up and I’ll get back to you.”

…Right?

Au contraire Pierre!!!

It was clear the same drug dealing monopoly that terrorized my family and I back in the States was a worldwide phenomenon.

But when you have a baby in your arms, you don’t just wish you had answers, you find them.

I finally stumbled on a group of doctors who were part of this New Wave of Wellness. They had their own styles but all basically said the same thing, “Fire your MD, Tune In , Turn On and Drop Out and let your body do the rest.”

I did what they said and it took a few years.

Fear fell into anger; so much pain for so long, for nothing.

Anger sowed the seeds of action, which grew the tree of knowledge from which the fruit of confidence hanged mighty and low.

“What was that doc? Nothing I can do? Gonna be like this forever? Should I be afraid? Really afraid? You say there’s ‘No Cure?’ No kidding…gonna sell me a drug now? Well, do you know what I say?… ”

“…WHATEVER, DUDE!!!”

Do you have any idea how unbelievably good that feels? 😀

Wankers Think Positive, Winners Retrain the Brain – Marisa Peer

Well mate, those aren’t her words exactly but this jolly English bird’s got some interesting insights and sports a right sexy British accent. At first I was like ‘Yeah, whatever…” but at about 9:02 she spins a yarn that made my mouth water. Anytime there’s a fit blonde Brit and I excrete saliva? Bloody hell, I’m paying attention! lol…

Although I don’t believe you can control the mind as easily as she proposes. We all need Tune In, Turn On and Drop Out so the body stops screaming at the brain.

But assuming all’s good under the hood then I’m definitely on board.

Here’s the 4 aspects of the brain she wants us to be aware of.

1) Your mind does exactly what it thinks it wants you to do. If you don’t have what you want you are not collaborating properly with your mind.

2) You mind is hardwired to move you toward pleasure and moving away from pain. This is a survival mechanism but we can choose what we link pain or pleasure to.

3) The way you feel about everything all the time boils down to the pictures you make in your head and the words you say to yourself. Collaborate with your brain to change the pictures you keep in your mind and the words you say to yourself.

4) Your mind loves what it is familiar. It’s programmed to keep going over and over again to what is familiar. If you are going to succeed at any level you have to make what is familiar unfamiliar, and what is unfamiliar familiar.

“First make your beliefs, then let your beliefs make you”. Thanks Marisa. Loved the ‘Lemon Lesson’. Keep up the great work! 😀

Do Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders Cause Cancer?

No they don’t.

According to County Superior Court Judge Kristi Kapetan, Monsanto does.

Read article Monsanto’s Roundup Must Carry Cancer Warning Label’ here.

Roundup reclassified as glyphosate is now a “probable carcinogen” and it’s EVERYWHERE.

Like your Coca Cola? The corn syrup it’s made from is SOAKED in glyphosate.

Does Trump, Sanders or any political ideology ever enter your body and damage it to the point where the cells freak out and uncontrolably reproduce until you die? lol…

Prepare for some quality entertainment. 😀

This Is Not The Proper Use of the N-Word!

le-parc-du-val-de-chezine-est-enfin-arrive-bons-sportsBefore the sun comes up around 4 or 5 in the morning Paris is still. Even winter’s rainy mist gets lazy and quiets it’s constant drip, drip, drip.

When the desire hits to feel self important I like to move in on a pre-dawn raid for the Jungle Gym at Parc de la Villette.

Lit by the moon and the lamposts, it’s there I like to hang, stretch the back, do a few pull ups and pretend I’m young again.

My fellow commandos every time are a group of Asian business men and women doing their thing, shooting the breeze, laughing, stretching, Tai Chi-ing and getting ready for the day.

And I’m sure, in their native tongue their going, “Hey, look at this guy…”

Mid-day brings the family and kids. Late afternoon brings young French-African males speaking French but also bonding in their native tongue. They shake hands, bro-hugging and more seriously than me, hit the Jungle Gym to work out.

Yes, we Americans are strange. Take Jack Nicholson: ‘I don’t need hair. I got personality!’ Parc de Villette is alot like him.

A smell touches the stomach.

b1d0450bf80707fbf0f044e89e810fd3She walks slow, laughing, talking, with eye-popping colorful attire and a gorgeous head-dress.

She pulls homemade food and drink from her caddy and sells it to her hungry young guys.

There is a great adoration for the African-American in France. Obama was almost like a Jesus figure for the Socialist Left. Black is Beautiful and Ghetto-Fabulous Chic is revered and embraced here in all walks of life.

Eventually a good ol’ American Boom Box fires up on the scene and what came out blew my mind.

Country music and Gangster Rap? I get it.

I respect it.

But both are not something that I know, enjoy or wish to explore.

Out of this boom box came American Gangster Rap I had no idea existed.

The music was extremely powerful. Bassline and bass drum were like one singular thing. It was minimal, halted, big, Gothic and dark. And the rappers were winding the most evil, misogynistic, Marilyn Manson-Nine Inch Nails times 1000, ghetto dirty, violent gang fables ever.

These African kids had no idea what they were listening to.

“When she resists anal sex I do this… I’ll slip this shit into her drink to get what I want… I got my 9 and I’ll shoot anyone that messes with me… I get it on, make her scream and then ditch the bitch the next day…”

And the N-word was triumph sprinkled like salt and pepper everywhere; throughout.

I know American Black culture. I made House Music in the 80’s. Harold Washington, Chicago’s first Black mayor was The Man… I went to his funeral. Some of my best friends in the world are African American.

Yo, My French-African bros who love the American Black thing.

This is not the proper use of the N-word!

This is how I grew up.

Laughter is better 😀
