Top 5 Self Help Fails

failBetween 2010-2011 I had discovered and immersed myself in what today is a full-blown American Wellness Revolution.

There are scientists, doctors and Health professionals leading the charge in a War of Independence from a Healthcare Establishment gone completely off the rails.

In my opinion, they make it clear if we haven’t reached our goals or realized our dreams there can be lots of reasons why.

There’s a weight, a toxic load, a nutrient deficit, an epidemic of sickness…whatever you wanna say. There is something going on. And guess what? It’s not our fault!!!

So I came to the conclusion our beloved Self Help Gurus got it all wrong. Here’s a list of the top 5 Fails as I see them.

1. Take 100-percent responsibility for your life:  To create the life you want, you have to take sole responsibility for it.

FAIL: MD directed medicine kills, injures and infects 15 million per year. How are we supposed to take personal responsibility for our lives when our doctors and legal system ignore and permit this crime against humanity to continue? How can we create the life we want if a profiteering, legally protected drug selling operation has 150 of million of us every decade infected, injured or just plain dead?

2. You are allowed to be anything you want: “Inherent in every desire is the mechanics for its fulfillment,” Deepak Chopra

FAIL: Modern farming practices have strip-mined the nutrient density of our farmlands. Every year billions of tons of antibiotics filter through our livestock to reap havoc on our immune system. Unknown amounts of pesticides and poisons are everywhere. Inherent in our food supply are nutritional deficiencies and carcinogens which are the mechanics to chronic disease and cancer. How do symptom suppressive drugs and chemotherapy equal fulfillment? A prescription fulfillment maybe...

3. What you think about you bring about: Your thoughts are everything. Feel like sh*t? It’s because of what you are thinking in that moment (probably fear or guilt based thoughts). Feel happy? It’s because of what you are thinking in that moment (probably gratitude or satisfaction with the world).

FAIL: This is the biggest FAIL of all. We know now that the brain is not the action and control center we thought it once was. We understand today that the gut is our ‘Second Brain’ which when healthy, creates an abundance of neurotransmitters like serotonin, melatonin, and tryptophan as well as a host of vitamins, possibly even Vitamin C. We know that digestion happens ‘autonomously’. Our gut gives info to the brain not the other way around. So, if we ‘Feel like sh*t?’ we need to zero in on the health of our digestive system not our ‘satisfaction with the world’

4. Love yourself. In ‘Life Loves You’, Louise Hay suggests you look in the mirror and into your eyes every day and say, “I love you. I really, really love you.” You do not need to do, have, be anything different to be worthy of love. You are worthy simply because you exist.

FAIL: (Don’t make me puke…) Poly-Vagal theory suggests we have a mid range acoustic surveillance system that needs the sights and sounds of mammalian interaction to regulate our stress response to modern life. Lose the mirror. Get a dog. Chat with a friend.

5. There is always a higher power at work (and it’s on your side). The higher power at work in our lives (call it God, the universe, source energy) is working right alongside you—always.

FAIL: You mean like the Pharmaceutical Industry? They’re the ‘higher power at work’?  lol. Again, every year millions people of lives are destoyed because of ‘complications due to treatment’ and no one even gets an OSHA ticket (CDC). MD directed medicine saves lives when used to treat acute trauma but CAN NOT cure chronic disease. It only suppresses the symptoms; that’s it.  If there is a higher power at work the guardian angel that oversees Big Pharma needs to lose his wings…

All this to say;  don’t beat yourself up. If you haven’t achieved what you wanted to it’s really important from a transformative perspective that you give yourself a break.

There are lots of reasons why if you aren’t where you want to be life.

  • We are 60th in life expectancy.
  • We are 41st in infant mortality.
  • 1 in 3 Americans are diabetic or prediabetic.
  • About 1 in 68 children (or 14.7 per 1,000 8 year olds) were identified with Autism (ASD)
  • We are the most obese nation in the world.
